The Difference between Vitamins and Minerals

Alternate Vitamins

What is the difference between over the counter vitamins (OTC) and minerals and practitioner only brands?
This is a great question that I am often asked.  As Naturopaths we are fully aware of these differences but the general public not so much.

The question is often asked to qualify the price difference as practitioner only brands are usually more expensive than the chemist brought ones and for good reason.

Practitioner only brands will usually contain more active ingredients, which means your body is better able to utilise the vitamin/mineral it is targeting. They contain quality excipients (that is the binding ingredients) versus the OTC brands. They have been researched and pass very rigorous safety procedures. The products manufactured here in Australia are made to strict guidelines implemented by the Therapeutics Goods Association (TGA).

Another good reason to seek advice is to ensure you are getting the right product for your needs. Naturopaths and Nutritionists are the best qualified to give you this knowledge. We study this information for 4 years and we understand how all these nutrients work. Our knowledge is evidence based, with constant ongoing research required to stay as a qualified practitioner.

Naturopaths will also address the reason your body is in need of these extra nutrients, which is a more holistic approach to wellness and balance.

So if you feel like you need extra nutritional support, book in with me now.
